I recently purchased one of these used for my 6 y/o nephew. It came with a junk 5hp and a good running practically new 3.5 B/S so thats what im using.

My questions are one how well will this 3.5 move with say someone my size (6'3 200lbs) and besides putting a home made long tube header and an open filter is there anything that can be done to this motor to make it faster?Or should i just buy another motor? If so whats the biggest that will bolt on to this frame?I am a welder by trade so i can fabricate if need be.

Also where can i buy a matching set of wheels/tires with the brake and sprocket on the drive wheel?

Thanks for the help in advance and sorry for the long post.

Ah.... no picture, so it's hard to tell.
If you want a decent easy-to-mount engine, go to Harbor Freight and pick up a 6.5hp "Blue Terror" for $130, and then you'll need a clutch for a 3/4" shaft (about $30 on ebay) and the same pitch chain that you're using now. If you could- plz submit a picture of the drive-train setup. The 6.5hp might not get you a higher top speed than what you're getting now, but if you're willing to give up a bit of that new-found acceleration, you can re-gear the rear axle. That's why we'll need pix.

I have a kart with a stock "Blue Terror" and speeds with my bloat (210lbs) approach 40 mph easily. The stock Blue Terror has pretty docile throttle response, too... so it's still okay for the little ones.
