I made a minibike out of a modified bike frame and a 5hp briggs or a power washer. No I have a small girls bike that I want to make to a pocket bike type and put a 2-stroke motor on but don't know much about how much power I can get out of a 2-stroke. Looking at some leaf blowers or edgers they seem to be around 25cc motors which seems like it would be really low. Would a motor that size be useable? or should I be looking for something bigger... what might a more powerful, but still small in size motor come off of possibly? or should I just pass on the 2-stroke idea?
Heres a picture of the 4 stroke bike that I made.

Thanks for any help

first off- lovely build on that bike.

If you want to use a small 2 stroke, use the pocket bike engines, not an edger or the like. those engine can carry a adult on one of those pocket bikes, so if you keep the weight under the average 47cc pocket bike it will work. they are designed for speed and with the correct gearing can get to a nice speed.

Is there anything that the larger two strokes come off of besides a pocket bike already? I'm really trying to spend as little money as possible, such as finding one at the curb or cheap off craigslist or something. 47cc is the smallest id want to really try to use for it?

Lawnmowers, plenty of power , you can buy new 2 stroke horizontal or vertical engines, or if you find a 2 stroke lawnmower, you can convert it to horizontal without much effort at all.

You can also check out some of the smaller snowblowers, they often have a 120cc-150cc 2 stroke mill.

Like the seat:thumbsup:
Thanks happened to have the fur fabric laying around in the basement from some costume from years ago when I was in elementary school. Figured it was about time to put it to use. Added some more fur on the handlebars since then as well as made a headliner out of it for my friends truck. Having some issues keeping the chain on that bike now though.

Anyway I picked up a baha motor sports doodle bug mini bike that I'm gonna try to get the lawn boy engine mounted up on hopefully.
Picture didnt come out too good for some reason but here it is.

I got the two stoke motor all mounted up and exhaust just need to hook up the throttle and wait for my clutch. I got it started up for a minute and its real loud.. more than the 5hp briggs... I can't wait to see if it moves quicker.

You could do a sled engine/trans, but you would need to run a cent clutch between the driven pulley and back tire, otherwise if you remove all throttle going in a corner and throttle it coming out the power will come on too hard and kill you.

yea I think one of those engines might be a bit too much for me right now.
