makeing gokart want input

i am makeing 2 person offroad beast i have 250 blaster rear end off an atv i have clutch to but gears are way off on size its big chain >motorcycle 428 i think< now what size square tubeing do i use its going to be around 500lbs all together with riders what size motor and what gears do i use for jack shaft

Gearing depends on engine/tranny combo, and tire size. You need to find these values first.
Tubing size would depend on frame design. Have you got plans yet?

u will have to widen the back end as quads are very narrow even for a one person kart

do u have the front end as that is more usefull

also the motor size is dependent on what u what to do with it

if u want somthing to bomb around a playing feild then an industrial engine of maybe 10hp

or if u want light off roading then a 250 bike engine

if u want pretty good off road off road abbilty and speed then a 350/400cc (my choice)


or make a serious death machine and get a turboed busa in it

i think 15hp brigs might might get me were i want and tubeing i see most use 1in for light yard bs so im gona use 1 1/4 1/4 thick or i might go 2in tube with bobcat motor haha

1/4" is way, way too thick. Even for a ladder frame. It's going to weigh a ton!

With a space frame or other supported structure, you'll want to use lighter tubing. Somewhere around 0.065" to maybe 0.090.

all my wheels are almost 1' 6in to 2' they are big boys and what gears do i use for jack shaft
