Thanks for all the information, however I do need some info on the driven unit. My driven unit will not open or close, it is stuck in the greatest diameter position. How can I fix or change this? I need all the low end power i can get, will the 7" driven unit be better for me? Is there a way for me to fix this until I can install the 7"? Does the driver spring and flywheel assembly have friction material on it? Mine does not look smooth, it looks like the "cone" has raised areas that look like they are a friction material.

I know this is long, thanks for any and all help.

Here are some pix. As you can see I drew a sharpe line on the driven and it did not move. The driver does not open nor close. I had the guard off and followed my girls in the cart on my 4 wheeler and the driver or driven did not open or close. The cart runs fine and we know no different as this is a used kart. But I am looking to make this as enjoyable as possible for my girls. Please see attached pix.

Thanks

Nathan

You have no cam buttons, its jumped past and blown them out. The driver clutch looks normal. You'll be able to find many fine retailers online, as well as several threads by individuals on which they've repaired their clutches. Best of luck to you and I hope that helped.

Thanks for the information Blazkowiez. I will have to admit that I do not know what you are talking about by cam buttons, but I will look into it and try and find a thread. Would the driven unit not working correctly make the driver to not open or close?
If you do not mind could you please tell me if a 7" unit would give me more low end? I may just buy a new one if the 7" would help with climbing power.

Thanks

If those are the buttons, I still have them on mine. It does not look like they are snapped or anything?????

Order the MaxTorque buttons and cut those to fit, it really really works although it looks a bit odd.

but the new ones are curved? and they still work?

and out of curiosity. why did Max-torque stay in business and not comet? and how similar are there TCs?

The MaxTorque converters in operation are very very similar to the series 20 comet and some of the belts interchange. The new ones have two peaks /\ rather than just one / . So you may take an exacto and carefully size it to fit older single sided MaxTorque driven clutches.

I can't tell you why one company died when another did not, but I'm very happy MaxTorque stayed in business and continues to thrive, they make a great clutch.

Graphite or a Moly based dry lube. I am thinking the liquid wrench can't hurt anything, have never tried it but it sounds like it's about right for the job though a bit pricy.
