Hey Everyone,

I've been lurking for awhile and have asked a question or two but have never really done much. I am hoping to do more karting related stuff soon but I really need to get a welder..... I've been looking at HF ones but this just came up on CL: http://sanantonio.craigslist.org/tls/5811987913.html I was looking more at 240v ones but this would probably work fine right? How likely is it to be an easy fix? Oh, and should I be posting this on the tools thread?

Thanks for running such and AWSOME forum,

AR

It's a crapshoot...likely IS an easy fix...problem is he doesn't say HOW it isn't working!!!

Could just need a powercord or ground cable...who knows?

But thats a heck of a welder for $35....

My thoughts exactly. I'll ask for details... Sounded like it broke while sitting which I would think means some :censored: microchip or some unneeded crap like that jumped overboard but idk.

$35 Lincoln welder, currently non-working. Hmm. Surely it's worth more than that, even not working? Helps to save the ad because they can be taken down in nanoseconds...

And,
..to the forum, N00B! :D

I'd buy that in a hurry. There's no way to tell whats wrong until you get it home and hook it up. But pick it up for sure at that price.

Looks like it's missing the feed side cover and the gas shield nozzle, but the cover isn't necessary for operation and the nozzles are cheap, harbor freight has them.

That would have been a great deal! I use a very similar Lincoln welder.
Anyway Yes it would have worked fine to build a go kart too.
There is a decent welder at Harbor Freight. Similar to that. But 100 bucks new instead of 400.
A few guys here have it and like it.
But they all say get good lincoln Wire at Home Depot not the HF Chicago brand.

"Wurstfest"? That explains it!!!!! I asked someone awhile back if they had ever been to Anhault.

They had no idea what I was talking about. Ask some old timers if Wurstfest used to be Anhault.

I moved away from San Antonio 46 years ago. I've only been back a couple of times...mainly Sea World and the River Walk...but I went to Anhault as a kid. Yeah...it was a blast...the grownups drank beer like it was free water...us kids played baseball and ran all over the countryside. Of course there was plenty of dancing to the oompa band....and the food was off the hook.

My dad's dad had a ranch near New Braunfels and my mom's dad near Bourne.

Have you ever seen a huge billboard for Riedel's furnature?

I'm not sure if it's the same but it sounds similar! I wish us guys would play baseball now a days. Nothing better than a pickup game of ball but no one seems to want to play it now a days :( Spoiled kids with no attention span, thanks a lot video games :censored: I've never noticed Riedel's sign but furniture isn't really what I look for lol. You can check out Wurstfest here: http://wurstfest.com/ I bet it's similar

Is that where you used to go? Wurst Fest is right next to Landa Park, if you know where that is. I pulled that hall up earlier, but it's in SA.... Once again seems very similar though!

I really don't know whether it was Anhalt Hall on Anhalt Rd. (about halfway between Boerne and New Braunfels)...or Anhalt Dance Hall which is in New Braunfels where the Wurstfest is.

It was one or the other.

EDIT: I talked to my mom and it was the one in Big Spring which used to be HoneyCreek that we went to...not the one in New Braunfels.

I can tell you with certainty, Lincoln and Chicago electric use different threads for the nozzles, they are NOT interchangeable

I'd buy that in a hurry. There's no way to tell whats wrong until you get it home and hook it up. But pick it up for sure at that price.

Never email--in this day and age it is too slow. Always call if they give you the option. In the future, don't waste time bouncing a no-brainer purchase like this off the forum (bouncing = should I buy this?). Buy it quick and fast... and then weep bitter tears later if you got scammed for a junk buy.

I knew that was gonna be a quick sale. Either that or the seller forgot to add a zero...
