I recently bought a 28"x30" sheet of lexan from lowes for $30. I wanted to put it on my 2 seater which my daughter rides in for safety in case rocks get kicked up.

I was asked how it would stand up to rocks from a dirtbike getting kicked up from in front of me so I decided to test it out.

I have a plr-22 handgun (.22lr) and had a few scraps from the lexan so I went to town on it. I shot 2 separate pieces but my brother has the other one.

Here are some pics of what you get!!!

The gun and the lexan. I feel a lot safer knowing a bullet wont penetrate from 20 ft away.

^^Thats cheating! Besides, why shoot when you can bayonet your foe from across the river from the comfort of your hole? :D

Anywho, thats kinda impressive...
now... how much will it take to stop the 7.62X54R?

...missed out on a mosin carbine for 150... that sucks..

Well keep in mind this lexan is only 2.31mm thick measured with my micrometer. Still impressive in my eyes as far as safety if you are looking for protection while riding.

I thought you guys couldnt get steel core ammo, up north here Thats all we have for surplus, Czech steel core. Cheap and dirty, but it will go through most thinner polycarb plates.
Mind you, when they test safety glasses they shoot a BB gun at them.

Why wouldn't we be able to? Steel-core Russian surplus is the cheapest 7.62x54r to shoot. Can't hunt with it or shoot it at indoor ranges, but you can throw steel and lead down range all day long.

devino246- Pardon my ignorance, I was just under the impression that any "steel core ammo" in the US was considered by the government armor piercing, and not for general sale.

toystory_4wd- Oh I understand that, But more to what I was saying, thats why they test them with that.
