Hey Guys I have a Kandi buggy and it has a GY6 for an engine a whopping 150cc of fury! Problem is that the cart is a tank and it goes OK but I would like some more power!!

So what would you guys do for an engine ?

I have nothing to add on this one but will be watching i just got the same type cart for my oldest daughter and it needs lots of help, have you checked out the big jug kits they seem pretty alright on price not sure the power difference. I have a 420 predator motor with electric start that i am thinking of swappin in but than i have to give up the reverse and in my opinion it is pretty much a must have on something this size

you can get a 212 predator from harbor freight, I hear they're on sale for $99 right now, and if not they go on sale pretty often. You can get one of those and put some performance parts into it. Or if you're looking for something you can just buy and drop in, there is the 420 pred, of you could get a honda GX390 or something of the like.

A problem you're going to run into though is whether or not these larger engines will fit on your mounting plate. Since right now you're running a 150cc , a larger CC will likely have a much larger footprint.

You might be able to find a 125-150CC bike engine to put on there, it'll be the same displacement, but a 2 stroke with a built in trans could get you shifting along pretty quick.

I think those kandi buggies have a 2 bolt valve. Head right? They are not the typical common gy6. Your biggest bang for your money is get the a12 cam and that tank's torque will have a notice difference. Then go to cvt upgrades. If you look in my pics i have a 150 and pretty impressed with it. Bit mine is a little lighter rain yours. If you still want to do an engine swap try to come across the cn250 which Kandi does put in the spyder too.
That buggy does have a great suspension too and roomy. Start with the cam, get a port and polished head and uni filter and open that exhaust.

I was gonna recommend putting money into his engine, but I wasn't sure if he was willing to work on his engine.

It seems like there would be very little torque with the fact that it's 150CC and makes like 8-12HP at 7k. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like more torque might be the solution to his want.

Torque is absolutely what makes that tank get up and go. The a12 cam increases low, mid, and dies not take away from top end. The cam will make so much difference.
Do some time runs before and after.

I don't mind tearing into the motor at all and I don't mind fabricating to make another engine fit... I just want more power lol..

So it looks like I should get a A12 cam to start off with..

I also have a street bike exhaust I'm going to make work (stock one is almost rotted through)..

Time to break out the welder

A buddy of mine is willing to give me a 1988 Suzuki Safari 440 for a donor ... Is it worth my time to retro fit that in my go kart?

It is going to require a lot of fabrication, but if you are willing to do it and think you have the skills, then go for it. Just remember to brace the whole frame to handle that engine. Personally, I think it would be too much though

I'm bouncing between a motor swap or upgrading the GY6... I leaning towards the GY6 because its already there lol... I want this thing to be a beast!!

So a A12 cam and CVT upgrades are going to be done... Anything else should I replace while I'm there?

Also whats a good place to order all these parts?

Thanks !

Call and talk to Tom here at ....http://www.sycpowersports.com/ He knows everything there is to know about these buggies. His prices might be a little higher than the crap you see on ebay, but his stuff is quality tested and bought from only reputable suppliers. He will set you straight.

I hope! Its a shame, the buggy looks pretty badass and it has some great features (rack and pinion steering, hydraulic brakes front/rear, 4 point harness, electric start, lights)... Its just a slug!

I heard Harbor Freight makes a v twin predator...

Even a v twin industrial engine won't out perform a modded gy6. That is a lot more weight than a gy6.
Plus the cvt is better than a torque converter, parts are cheap, and a lot of info on gy6 engines.
