Need a replacement recoil starter for a Tecumseh 5hp Enduro motor. Motor seems older. Does anyone what what part I need that will fit? I can post a picture if needed.

Cord came out tried to reinstall and the actual cord broke in half. I suppose I should just find a new cord and try that...are there any guides or videos on replacing them?

Yeah just fit a new cord. It will cost $5 at the most, wheras a new recoil could cost $50!
Post some pics, it can't be that hard.
Usually, once the recoil is off, you just need to remove a bolt, and then you can tie a new rope onto the pulley.

Be careful of the spring, if the oily b*stard flies out, it takes a bit of a knack to get it back in. The first time putting a recoil spring back in it took me about 20 mins. It now takes me about 3.

you wanna prewind the spring and use a screwdriver or whatever's handy stuck in to hold the inner & outer pieces stationary while you feed the rope through the outer and inner holes and tie the knot.
i drilled the rivets out and used sheetmetal screws in their place; less hassle than taking the whole shroud off
