Me and my two brothers bought a gokart as a fun prject/learning experience, so please bear with me because we are very new to anything mechanical. When we bought this gokart we knew the clutch was fried and the (what I'm guessing is the) upper sprocket had most of its teeth missing. we replaced the clutch and ran it around the house just to see how it would run. Now I am struggling to find a place to buy the right sprocket. Our sprocket looks like it had about 25 to 30 teeth

That looks like a OEM part. What kind of kart is it ? And post a pic of the whole kart to aid in us helping you easily and more effectively.

pictures of whole kart

The guy we bought it from didnt give much information. It had a transformer sticker on the front. To find the parts that I have ordered so far I have looked up Trailmaster Mid XRS.

I don’t know what kart that is, but... it looks like the sprocket is just sandwiched on a jackshaft mount. Have you tried taking the 3 nylon nuts off and taking it apart?

I’ve bought sprockets from several different places. Take it apart and see what the bolt pattern looks like.

I pulled the entire shaft, here are the pictures. Also just wanted to thank you all for taking the time to post. We appreciate your help. let me know what else I can pull or measure? I'm at a loss as to what is or is not relevant. It is a 20 tooth sprocket by the way.

Go Karts USA says it came with a torque converter. Somebody has changed it. Take the sprocket off and post pic of it separate.

Yep somebody has changed it. Supposed to have this,........

here is everything pulled off. The two silver pieces on the end were bolted together, I guess as a makeshift sprocket?

I was thinking that looked like a torque converter setup based on the jackshaft position and the size of the axle sprocket. Usually clutched karts with a jackshaft for compound gearing have a ~36 tooth axle sprocket on them.

And it doesn't look like a makeshift sprocket. It's a keyed hub for a bolt-on sprocket. Very common in the go kart world. The setup as a whole looks makeshift with all the spacers and collars to get the sprocket to sit in the right position because it's definitely set up to have a torque converter on it.

Get one. You won't be disappointed.

It looks like you have to find a 21 tooth sprocket, with the matching bolt pattern, as your "hub"

Another option (& probably cheaper) is to find/use a 21 tooth sprocket with an attached hub that fits your jack shaft :cheers2:

I'm just guessing here
...but, If you have a 1" shaft
…& are running #40 pitch chain
...this sprocket from Surplus City may be an option (~$10.50) :2guns:

What are the benefits of a torque converter? Would i need a new clutch and or chain/belt? IM running a #35 chain and the diameter of the shaft is 1/2 " on the small end and 3/4 " on the bigger end.
