my axle is bent, I'm having trouble finding the correct replacement. on there now is a 40" keyed 1" axle the ends step down to 3/4 ". the problem is my stepped down part is 3" long(1.5" not threaded and 1.5 " threaded) all the axles i can find only have 2" step down. really don't want to buy new hubs if i don't have to.
maybe i'm just looking in wrong place?

had it milled down on a lathe

i had the new axle milled down on a lathe, the the keys wouldn't fit. had to grind 1/3 or so off one side of both keys. hope they hold up.
It all fits like a glove now, the guy that i took the axle to, removed the sprocket from the old one. he told me it took of 8000lbs of force to remove it. I'd still be beating on it with my hammer.

No you wouldn't, you would've destroyed it a long time ago :lolgoku:

8000lbs of hydraulic pressure isn't as much as it seems, when you consider 1 metric ton of force from a brake press bender, applied to two fingers, only broke the bones...
