Looking for some pictures of live axle setups

And check out Rickracer's awesome kart. It has a Live axle and not too much in the way of seeing how it was put on there. His seems to be a little more heavy-duty (for good reason!). There's a few ways of doing it, this is just one good way that works very well. You might need to do some welding.

Ahh okay. So the bearing's lock collar keeps the axle from moving side to side? Or am I confused?

Yes but race kart style/cassette type bearings typically have set screws located in the bearings race that locks down to the axle. Here's a pic of this style: http://www.kartpartsstore.net/servlet/the-276/Go-Kart--dsh--2-dsh-1/Detail

Yup! Other bearings can be used, but somehow i decided on pillow blocks. Note tho, in post #37 they were not fully pushed on. My axle was 30mm, tuned to 25mm at the ends, which stopped the axle moving from side to side. The bearings had locking collars built in too, but i didnt use these. The bearings anderkart mentioned above are the same as the bearings located inside the pillow blocks.
