Getting the 40 series TC set up on my predator has been a pain. Because my engine shaft is so short (2.5 inches?) it really doesn't give me a lot of options with how i can set this thing up. According to the manual the ideal setup would consist of having the smaller side of the driver pulley towards the engine with the spring also facing the engine on the driven pulley.
I can't set it up like that because the driven pulley cannot go far enough in to line up with the driver pulley. I also cannot pull the driver pulley out to compensate due to the length of the engine shaft.
if i flip both of the pulleys i can get them to allign; having the spring facing away from the engine on the driven pulley seems ok but it looks pretty strange having the driver pulley backwards. It was also much more difficult to tighten up due to losing access to the nut on the pulley.
aesthetics aside, i don't see why it shouldn't work.
First test run went really smooth as well.
My concern however is that i might not have my pulleys spaced correctly which could ware down the belt prematurely.
I intentionally off set the pulleys by about 3/8 thinking that it would travel more on the driver end then the driven end and become straight
during overdrive. but i may have off set it a hair too much because the belt is noticeably crooked when idling or sitting. I can add a washer behind the driver pulley to straighten out the belt if its supposed to be straight during idle. let me know what you guys think thanks
