Hey guys and gals

Im looking for a quality #35 68t or 72t Sprocket. In the range of $12-25. I dont want it to be a plain old piece of steel either it needs color or somthing. I want it to have 6 bolt holes on a 5 1/4" bolt hole circle. I Looked at BMI karts and they only sell split sprockets. I know that is going to be the only thing around for a 68t but i just have a feeling like im ganna be bending/warping the spilt sprocket after beating on it. Im only going to using a 6.5 HF motor tho but when i ride i go all out and beat the crap out of the kart (thats why i had to sell my old one lol). I dont have my new kart running or anywhere near that stage yet. I will post a project log of it soon tho. Like when i get all my parts in lol.

Also i cant tell or not but is this sprocket split or not? EBAY SPROCKET

Doesn't look split to me...
I don't think #35 and beating the crap of it should be used in the same sentence and kart.
Hell, I can easily break #41 chain just doing normal offroading.

If you enlarge that ebay ads pic you'll clearly see it is a split sprocket. Most all race type sprockets are split type and as long as you buy a high quality brand, have a good hub, chain and clutch sprocket, and keep the bolts tight they work just fine that way. They make them that way so racers can quickly change gears at the track.

I have no idea what brand that ebay sprocket is and they didnt even bother to say on the ad, so I'd have to assume its some sort of low quality import. After you figure in their shipping charge your very close to the shipped price of either high quality brands sold here: http://www.kartpartsstore.net/servlet/the-sprockets/Categories

At the top of that sites sprocket page you'll notice they also sell both aluminum and plastic sprocket guides. These are sometimes referred to as sprocket savers and they can really help save your sprocket and chain from damage if you ever roll over a big rock or something. They can also help keep your chain from rolling off when your frame or axle flexes causing temporary misalignment issues while hitting big bumps and such. If you have a history of destroying sprockets I highly recommend you install a sprocket saver.

Heres what mine looks like instaled with a #35/73 tooth sprocket:

(my engine puts out at least 20hp and my #35 chain and sprockets have held up just fine)
