The sled engines will make a far bit more power than a standard kart engine. My 583 cc is a little over 100hp. I would say try it with the stock gearing. Moving a large heavy track takes some grunt, so if that was the oem setup it will probably move a kart just fine. Think about how easy they roll vs the track.

How much do you project the krat to weigh? Its gonna be a screamer....

Never owned a snowmobile, but I imagine that 1.7:1 ratio runs to some kind of drive wheel for the tracks. If that's correct, don't forget to take the diameter of that into account vs. the diameter of your kart wheels.

well with an estimated weight off the frame alone at 180 with strictly steel frame nothing else i'd guess in the area of 200-280? Also this sled didn't have an expansion chamber, they just used mufflers lol?

You said the sled had a head light, powered by the stator? Ok, run that through a cheap rectifier, if you don't already have one, then the output to a battery. Constant charge..... As long as engine is running. And lights will stay the same intensity, unlike off the stator.( Rev the engine and the lights get brighter..... )

Well thats about half the weight of the sled, they are usually about 500lbs. What year is it? My 94 has ~5" drivers for the track. With the HP you will have and the CVT I think you can gear a little lower, say 4:1, it will still be really really fast.... my sled will almost push 90mph
