Supposed to be deli style like underneath the 'round piece that is 1/8" think and has brown stuff smeared on it. There were two, unfort I stuffed one in my mouth at 6am half asleep and when I looked down at the package I threw it up all over the kitchen floor. Yes, I've been making phone calls. From wmart, huge surprise!

t to mention, the quality of the meat underneath is dull looking, like it had been soaked. Hopefully not a toilet!

Sad thing is I had a thought last week something was wrong with a different pack but dismissed it as a random crazy thought. I'm gonna sue for ptsd.

Is there anything wrong with it besides being unattractive?

The brown stuff looks like processing residue from the outside of the meat that collected and came off in that package. Who knows, it might still meet Oscar Mayer's quality standards. It could also be that the lot it came from was still perfectly edible, but not "first" quality and Wal-Mart got it at a discount. Speculation on my part.

Unless it tastes strange or is contaminated or rotten or something, I wouldn't say this a big problem. A problem maybe, but not a big one.

I've been eating this product for months. It's supposed to be thin sliced deli meat. It is NOT round like the piece in the pic. I have never had this problem. It also had a slightly different smell. Not bad just different. Unfort the only thing I recall tasting was vomit lol. This was like a couple pieces of sliced round turkey breast on top of the normal product which isn't round and paper thin. I'm hoping it's just a mfg issue but whatever it's gross. No, I'm not looking for millions lmao but they're looking into what it could be. At least I'll get craploads of coupons. Of course, that's like calling a restaurant that spit on your burger and them giving you a free one, yeah I'll be right there to get that lol.

I think gross foreign objects in food is a huge problem.

Hopefully this gets someone's attention at the plant this was produced at. No problem tracking down where this happened, when, and whomever is responsible for cleaning and sanitation of the machine in question.

looks like "marinade" tbh..

birs, especially turkey is dry as a dessert meat
(never understand why you americanos love turkey)
Anywhoo it's essentially the same with chicken of this side of the pond.

Most (if not all) pre-processed chicken has been injected with water for the longest time.
European laws now forbid this, the ONLY way to inject water these days around here is to
"marinade" the meat to a max of IIRC 9% of the total weight.

Anywhoo, I think it's about the same on your side of the atlantic...

Now, those marinade is as said injected and must NOT be pure water of course..
injectors clogg up at times with the herbs and sices..
and the net thing you know that herbs and spices plug breaks loose and is injected into the
next wedge.

That's exactly what it looks like in pre processed chicken at least in case that happens.

means: manufacturer has poor quality controls
but not necessarily poor hygiene ..

I'm reasonably sure your food administration has as close an eye on processed food,
as ours has.

it looks mean, I give you that,
but I'm nearly certain it's nothing but spices really,
something you already eaten a number of times properly distributed over such dead bird,
[what do you think makes the outer surface that nice color?.. ]
and surely something you have seen on with home made marinades a couple of times ;)

Might be from injectors.

In the facilities I have worked in as a welder /fabricator /maintenance guy, meat that was intended for deli style use, was processed in a large vacuum tumbler. The vacuum used to force marinade /brine into the meat. Vacuum was used to actually suck the meat from a hopper into the tumbler via a large hose.

The meat was eventually emulsified into a goo and vacuumed into machines that packed it into bags under high vacuum, 1-2 Torr. Gives it that nice loaf shape. Then a few hundred of these at a time were baked in an oven. Several ovens.

Maybe Oscar Meyer is using doing things differently, but it is a quality issue.

All these explanations sound good, except for the fact there were 2 large round pieces on top around 1/8" thick which is totally inconsistent with this product. I suppose the mfg could have other products that somehow got mixed in.

For the record, I'm actually not a big turkey fan it's mainly the wife and boy is she glad she didn't eat it lol! I much prefer chicken.

Off topic but never really understood the big hoopla about 'her first turkey'. They are stupid easy to cook. About the only thing I like is that they are big and last a few days lol. Of course, only 2 of us.
