Live axle question

How is this considered a live axle if only 1 side is keyed?

How do i keep the other wheel spinning with the axle? one wheel is keyed, i understand that, but the other wont be? and thats still considered live?

That is not a live axle, just a solid one.

the axle is keyed or slotted the entire length. They are offset from each other. One half is slotted on the top, other half on the bottom.
