Hey I am thinking about getting this frame from off of Craiglist for 35 dollars. This guy is selling a frame of a kart with wheels and everything and has live axle. I am wondering are live axles better then 1wd? Is it worth getting? I am just thinking about getting it and using the wheels and rims sense it only 35 buxs.

if your driving it on asphalt or concrete 1wd is good, but will prob burn tires quickly on other surfaces, live axle is ok on the street, but is best on dirt.

Yeah thats what i was reading.. Soo its not worth getting the live axle kart then? I am mostly going to be doing on-road but i might go off-road sometimes.

Yeah it does... But i have another kart already.. I have posted pixs of it on this forum...

I am thinking about getting that kart and just using my engine i am using now. And remove my front slicks and put them on this or wait till this fronts wear out.. And give away or trash the kart i am working with now...

your call

Thats true.. I am thinking about it like this..

My rear wheels on my kart now are rotten. but still hold air and are slowly wearing down badly.

Front wheels are good just bought slicks :)

But if i buy new rear wheels for the kart i have now it going to cost me about 31 buxs. I can just get a new kart thats live axle for that and have front wheels. Sense this kart wheels still have grip..

I also have to get new rims for my kart eventually because it rides bumpy(like a tractor)

But i am just thinking is the live axle going to be good for the road.

i think live axle should be fine, you may notice a difference, if you go to buy it, bring a buddy and have him push you along so you can decide if its a big difference.

Yeah i am :)
And pluss my steering on my kart now is not good it always comes out of alignment because i need some new bars on it because they are worn out..

Live Axle was an expensive option when it was new versus the 1wd counterpart on several companies. If you decide you do not want to use the kart you can easily sell the rear end assembly or the frame off for much more than you paid. That will be worth your gas and time.

Used karts.........

Dear Friend;

I started buying used karts and fix them up to sell at Christmas time. One good thing about a already factory made frame is you don't have to do any tube bending which gets expensive ($500.00). The three things that are usually not any good on a gokart is tires, engine and drive train. Your two karts look nice for that price.

I found nice cheap cone 6.5 engines at Harbor freight for about
$100.00 "NEW".

Good luck on your karts......Joel

I got the kart :) It needs alittle work but nothing major done to the frame. My friend has a welder so we are going to fix that tomorrow. The welds where broke in some places and it had a bad weld in some areas. But that is a easy fix because my friend has a welder.

But other then that the frame is good :) Came with the roll-cage also :D
