i have a cheap kart i found that was one of those cheap racetrack rental karts. it has a honda gx200 6.5 hp with a gear reduction box. belt driven. i was wondering how i could put a live axel on it

You would need an axle or length of keyed shaft, likely 1" diameter, two pillow block or flange bearings, sprocket and hub to suit, brake and hub to suit. You would then need to scheme up a way of mounting the bearings firmly to the frame.

FYI, those amusement karts are built to protect small children and the elderly folks who may ride them. That being said, they usually weigh HUNDREDS of pounds with all sorts of extra bracing and safety measures. You might want to cut away all the unnecessary metal to get it to a manageable weight. Just a heads-up.

The axle you need is going to depend on the wheels you have. Axles come in many different sizes. You can get a live axle in 3/4", 1" 1-1/4", 1-3/8", 1-1/2", 35mm.

So it would be best to match your wheels to the axle you want. Then you need the bearing hangers, flangettes and bearings to mount the axle.
