Is there anything I can so to get better turning. The live axle is kinda screwing me up and I think the weight of the engine keeps the front wheels from getting good traction as well. Any ideas?

well , you could get piece of thick steel about 8"x8" maybe 3/4 to 1" thick....drill holes through it and bolt it to the front someplace. dont weld it on incase you want to remove it latter. Or get a differant wheel hub with bearings and replace one of the rear tire hubs with that.

is the engine mounted behind the axle? or are you just pulling wheelies? if your not happy with he live axle, you can convert it into a one wheel drive (1wd), or install a differential.

when u say not getting traction do u mean u just push staight on in a corner and the wheels dont affect the direction much,
if so this may be a design issue (pic please)

some karts just do that. u can install a diff

id try the weight distrobution first, try sitting more forward

Yup. Weld on a post and add lifting weights as needed over its nose. If anyone asks, just say it's a unicorn kart.

When my kart didnt have enough weight in the front, i took some pipe and attached it to the front of my kart, then drilled some holes (for a retaining clip) and loaded some weights on. I think i used about 40 lbs, but only because the kart had terrible weight distribution. I went from hugging the curb around cul-de-sacs to whipping right around them.

Does your steering have proper geometries? Have you got tiny wheels on the front and big ones on the back?

Post some pictures of your go kart!

Thanks

The main problem is when turning both rear wheels are trying to spin at the same speed so my plan right now is to put bearings on the right side so that only the left side is driven

:iagree:you will also need to buy two more brake setups, one for each heel, you will only have 50 percent of the traction you had before, and you will burn up tires much faster.

Give us some pics. An overall shot or two, and a couple that concentrate on the frontend. With decent steering geometry, you should be able to steer reasonably well with the live axle.

Ahh I didn't think of the brake issue. Not riding on asphalt seemed to make all the difference in the world. So I think I'm okay
