Lights for my Trike and other stuff.

I'm starting to build my street-legal Trike, but decided to put lights builds in this thread. This will make it easier for people to follow this without having to search through soon to be a bunch of pages.


Here are some led I soldered within the last month.
The interior led can also be used for underbody lighting. The Single row headlights will be used as dawn/dusk light. I will be make a row about 3-4ft long or like fog lights for use in fog.

Interior light:
4x3 blue leds, 3 row indiviual controlled by transistor.

Single row headlight:
6x1 white (wide-angle)led, They're really bright.

Videos will be uploaded to youtube tomorrow. I have to compress it thanks to sony. 2mins = 164mb and that's about a 3hour upload via wifi.

Yeah the headlight I've showed up top or going to be like the kind audi has under the main headlights.

I've been looking into some 5w & 10w led head lights which should be able to achieve the distance easily. The issue that I hate is making a controller for the led, since they run a little high pre-built.

The minimum distance for headlight will probably be 500feet. I'm expecting the law to have it 300feet, since bicycle have 300ft at night. Tonight i'm going to see how bright they are at a distance. 500feet is 6 house.

So here's a photo of a led flashlight that output less mcd per "L.E.D than my current ones posted above.

This picture was taken 7houses away from my house and is around 550feet-600feet. The highest requirement that requires for motorcycle are 500feet from my knowledge, so I take a picture past 500ft.

The Streetlight is the one on the left and the led flashlight is in the middle of street.

Camera couldn't focus and was on auto which made everything 10%-20% darker. 500ft+:

I could easily slap to of these on my trike and not have a problem with the cops. and throw some red vinyl or red cellotape in front of it for the taillight.

The blue lights will be used. GA allows blue, so legal is cool.
