Lights and Electric Start

Hey guys after hours of looking on the forum and google,I couldn't find a single thread or site that could help me find out how to connect my evelrtric start on my go kart to a battery and some lights that are already on there. So this is what i want to conect it has a key start function but its not plugged in its just on the kart. I want to know how i plug it into the engine/ battery the engine has a key start function aswell. And then how do i concet the light that is already on there. so you have the 13hp? should be relatively the same as a 6.5.

the ground from the battery (-) should be bolted to the frame. an easy way to check is to turn a voltmeter to ohm and stick a probe on the battery and on the engine. the power (+) should connect to the solenoid; another wire should run from the solenoid to the starter. on the solenoid, depending on type, there should be at least one wire or spot for a wire. that wire should hook on to the ignition switch. depending on the switch, there will be marked spots for power in, power out, accessories, etc. if you have a voltmeter, you can check to see which wire you have ran where, turn the key to various positions to check for power. most vehicles have the negative wire going to the switches. (due to going through water, i guess)Not on the battery though!! the light power wire will hook to the accessory or key's 'on' position.
