I have a new 40 series clone driver I'll sell you for $125 shipped
I bought it from gopowersports.com a few months back for a project, I ended up selling the chassis to a friend, and just traded away the brand new 10hp Tecumseh HM100, so I don't really have a need for it right now.

I have to say, and I think anyone with a tc on their kart can attest to this, the extra money spent on the torque converter will pale in comparison to the extra performance. I've seen guys pop wheelies with comparable engines and the 40 series Comet (though it was a single seater- I doubt you will pop wheelies). A cent. clutch can't even touch the acceleration you get from a tc unless you're willing to gear your kart to only go 10mph. Seriously consider a tc with that big of an engine; a cent clutch for an engine that size will also cost a lot.

Check out ebay and other sources for used golf cart Driver and Driven units. They should have similar bores.

Hope this helps!

Welcome to the forum!

is a good place for jackshafts. There are many ways of setting up a jackshaft.
1. Many people have the jackshaft mounted below the engine on a mount that bolts into the engine mount. You can see one of these in the link.
However, the 40 series is quite a big unit and may not fit like this.

2. You could buy a seperate jackshaft and bearings like pillow block or flange mount bearings that bolt to the frame.

Don't forget to add up the cost of all the components, because you will also need a jackshaft sprocket.
I would reccomend a sprocket that takes no.40 1/2" chain.

Try making a search in the search function at the top of the page for 40 series or torque converter setup. You could probably find atleast 4 threads with pics of setups.
I hope that helps.

Can I make a small request: members on this forum generally use good grammar and good english. I try and do so. Could you please do so as well. Just small things like capitals and not substituting words etc.
Thanks :)

:iagree: No doubt about it! If you've gotta spend a little longer rolling pennies, you'll be glad you did!
