Hello DIY Go-Kart Forum!
This is my build thread of my newest acquisition: a Yerfdog. ($300)
Pics can, and will be posted upon request. :useless:
Not entirely sure what this guy needs just yet, however, I am going to start with a simple Carburetor rebuild.
BTW... The guy's name is Liddle Rip. (Thus the thread title...)

Liddle Rip runs really rich. It will run beautifully most of the time, however, as soon as I gun it, it lets loose a deep gurgly sound, and dies.
I heard that it is just easier, and less riskier, to just do a rebuild. (And it's only $20)
What other things could be a fix for this?

What is the motor... a Honda/clone/ect..?

Is/has there any mods done to the motor like header or air filter?

Pics... while were at it.

Forgive me for asking, but I must. Are you sure it's rich? Have you checked the plug? What engine are we talking about, and what else Mckutzy said...?

UMMM-
I'm thinking along these lines-my experience with small engines is 90% of the time a fuel related problem is not running, and 20% of the time running poorly.

--I'll post an infograph below with the basic specifications. As far as I know, There have been NO mods.

--I am fairly sure that it is rich. The guy before me checked the plug, and said it was oily.

Okay, so I ran it for about 30 minutes today, and BOY... I love this guy! =D
Anyways, I gunned it a few times, and it ran just fine.
However, whenever I turned sharply the the left, it lets loose a high pitch squeal. Upon further investigation, I found the tire was screeching. I think it is out of alignment. How would I go about fixing this? (Alignment, that is.)

Was the tire screeching from scrubbing on the ground or scrubbing on the frame?

Post up a pic of the side turned all the way to the left, probably an issue with your steering geometry.

Didn't someone else have this problem and fixed it? qtband maybe?

The right wheel was leaving rubber marks on the pavement, so, yes, it was scrubbing the ground.

Here are two pics of the front end.
(Sorry... the yard looks pretty crappy...)
Also, note the buggy is on a hill, so its slanted a wee little bit.)

The front end up closer:

I'll go check it out, thanks. =)

Hard time seeing in the pics because the kart is at an angle but it looks off to me.I would like to see 3 pics: all standing right in the middle of it looking down (top view) with the wheels turned all the way both ways and straight ahead.

I see a couple of things in the pics (I think). This kart has a front end more like a car than a kart. Looking at the view with the wheels straight, the tow looks excessive to me. If you can, measure the front and back sides of the tires and let us know what you get.
The other thing is that it looks like a whole assembly that bolts to the frame and it looks off parallel with the frame to me, can't really tell for sure in a pic.Is it adjustable?

Finally, this kart has A arms and a rack and pinion. Get the front tires off the ground and grab one and turn it both ways to check for slack in the system. (My best guess is wear in the R&P.)

You might want to Google up Yerfdog Spider steering problems. Seems that there are a couple of design issues besides rack and pinion wear. Apparently, at least on certain models, the centering of the rack and pinion can be off: the complaint, bad steering on left turns.

Some early models had pitman arms the same length as the spindle arms, problems: hard steering and a tendency for karts to flip.

Weak spindles that were prone to bend.

Being a complex system even worn shocks had an effect on steering performance.

Alright.
Upon further driving, Gunning this guy, WILL flood it. =(

Poboy: I measured the front wheels, and found 36 1/2 inches on the front, and 39 inches on the back of the wheels. (Inside edges)
Also checked for any slack, and found none whatsoever.
Oh, and it is adjustable.

IDK for sure-but I'd have to say that is way out of specs.I suspect a bent spindle now. This just goes to show how deceptive pictures can be at times. I was expecting about that amount of deviance but the other way. Since the post you're referring to I took a closer look at the other pictures and I don't think alignment of the total front end is the issue (unless it's centering) because it looks parallel.
I really think you should Google up the suggested and see which issues apply to your model.
