Let's play throttle linkage

First I shall have to admit, I've never taken a clone throttle linkage apart and needed to put it back properly due to mods and all.

I had to pull my wife's carb off her stock plain jain engine to clear a stuck float.
I've put it back together as well as I can recall taking it apart.
The throttle want's to stay in wide open position, and I don't see anything that wants to pull it closed.

Is this the way it is until it's started?

As far as I remember, the gov holds the throttle open till it gets some rpms.

One way of checking...
Undo drive chain( or jack up the rear end), set the throttle to the lowest point, giver a pull...

Throttle remains open until engine starts, and gov closes throttle.

Correct it helps the engine start easier. This being you should always give it throttle as your starting it if the governor is removed and let off as soon as you pull the rope.

My box stock starts first pull almost everytime and people always ask why. And one of them is 3 years old and still starts first or second pull everytime.

I thought the same thing.... I figured I messed something up. I didn't like not having ultimate control of the throttle. I got rid of the governor. Libertarians. LOL

my little briggs/honda hybrid engine does the same thing. I just have to crack the throttle when i pull start it because if i keep it wide open, my mini bike flies into the side of the house (1x), or the garbage can (1x), and i dont want to see what the third strike would be.
