You're not the only one who thought that lol. Some have odd pronunciations, like Nguyen. Unless someone spells it out on how to say it right, you're going to have a bad time.

Name is German. Pronounced "yoong" (with a long "U" sound) but we pronounce it "young". There are quite a lot of us in central texas. Galveston was a big entry point for the germans in the late 1800s.

Nope, I'm a 6'5" german-texan guy... LOL. Since I work in the computer industry, I get that ALL THE TIME, though. There's actually a new Korean church in Austin that is trying to recruit my mother ... They'll show up on her doorstep periodically and she's like, "Um, no.... thanks? Didn't you come by a couple of months ago? (Still not Korean, thanks!)"
