lawnmower engine need help asap

i have a lawnmower(dont kno model rihgt now ) and a few weeks back my mom hit the gas line with it. we set the mower off to the side....and a couple weeks later when my mom went ot start it it will start for a split second an shut down....any help

Perhaps you sheared the flywheel key, throwing the timing out...

yea sounds like it might be the flywheel key. is there any wobble in the crank?

i think i had this exact peoblem before. the problem for me was the carb had to be cleaned out. cleaning out your carb isnt very complicated if you know your way arund an engine. i would suggest looking at this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pw7tlsEMn2c if your feel mechanicly inclined or dont know what a carburator is this might now be the best idea. ps look out for spilled gas good luck
