I have a 6 HP Briggs and Stratton engine that runs. It's a vertical shaft from a lawn mower (one without the self-propelled gearing). I know that I'll need to add a gearbox or modify the engine if I want it to run my horizontal axle. So, what kind of gear ratio would I need to have my kart go to approx. 15 MPH?

It may sound like I'm asking the same question over and over in these forums, but I was first going to use a new engine, then I was going to use a snowblower engine, and now I'm looking into the lawn mower engine.

Thx for the help.

Ok you need a 1:1 right angle gear box then a clutch with bout 10 tooth then about a 70 tooth one on the axle with #41 chain.
