click 'Request Operators Manual'
There are loose needle bearings and a bearing liner under rod cap. I just don't want you to have any surprises. Needle bearings are notorious for dropping and getting lost. Also, rings may be pinned...meaning they are not free to spin on piston.
Just follow manual. It's 98% correct.

Yeah, I bought one of those a while ago, unfortunately, I don't think it works though and it's way too late to return it. It doesn't click at all when you're torquing something, even on the lowest setting. I might get it out one of these days and try it again.

convert Tillotson carb to Lawn-Boy reed plate

from YouTube

Mr. Kibble: "Hey Russ, I ended up getting another one of those 239's. I did notice that it will not fit straight onto the LawnBoy. Is there an adapter available, or would I have to make something myself to get it on there?"

Easiest way to fit carb is to just enlarge holes on carb flange. This works for me without any problems whatsoever. Be very careful not to go too far and damage carb body and don't get any metal chips inside (duh). More than enough metal to play with. Keep holes centered.

Russ is back!!!!

Ok, I'll give that a try. What did you do about the long bolts coming out of the case? Could you take some pics of how yours is attached?

Yeah, you know what? I was confusing that engine with one of my other ones. Nevermind about the bolts, I took a look at it just a few minutes ago and I saw how it'll go on. Now I just gotta get my unmotivated butt out there to work on it.

Ok, I figured something like that would be the easiest way to go. Now I gotta figure out what to do for a filter.

Yes they're vertical, but since they're 2 strokes they'll work in pretty much any direction.

What is the rest of your reply referring to?  :arf:

These are pics (2 years ago) of my original prototype Lawn-Boy converted to horizontal shaft. Model D-411 engine which came off of model 8601 mower (c. 1980). Never actually used this as there was no way to bolt up muffler or even a straight pipe. I stopped work on this after I came across a model F which was much easier to work with.
All together I have 8 Lawn-Boys. Four different models (D-411, F, V, and DuraForce) all of which are converted to horizontal for kart or minibike use.

"It's ready to go. Just need to bolt it on. Got sidetracked by Briggs/Toro snow engine. So many kart engines, so little time."

WORDS OF SOMEONE WHO LIVES THEM! Haha! One of these days, we need to have a photo-gallery of "Stuff in my Laboratory" of stuff that DIDN'T make it into these pages yet! In one of your pix, I saw what looks like an old B/S cast iron motor. They're not too useful, but I think every collection should have one! (I have a 5s and a 6s).
Can't wait to see the DuraForce go.
