Update: Some final stickers arrived today. Now for a warmer day (It's snowing here) and we'll continue.

Luckily, it is its own storage outside. Everything is inside with a hatch cover on it.

Update: Of course I have a hangover... after a night out with the wife, what do I do? Yea, wake up with only 6 hrs of sleep and get all creative.

I'd been thinking about a scoop that would work just right... and an old metal trailer fender seemed to work.

2nd, for the **** of it, I put some stickers on. Why? because they need to be worn in, worked on, grease on them... maybe a scratch or two in them. It's gotta look old.

Then, from a pair of old water skis... them little fins seemed to foot the bill for the front end. Little, adjustable things. Maybe we'll need em. Who knows. It looks good to me.

Then there's one of the funky air scoops for the cockpit. Used to be a chrome half of a spotlight of sorts.

Then the mock up exhaust on one side. I just put it there for ****s & giggles to see what it would look like. It gives me inspiration to mock up all of it first, then attach it... make it all work, then revisit when it all comes together.

Money spent today, None.

Here's where I am now. Temporary mounting, just sitting, but it's coming together.

Lunchtime boredom. Why not make a facebook update. New cover pic. Yay.

ALso have the measurements of the V8 and transmission in hand now... time to see if it'll all work as simply as I think it will.

A chevy small block (without headers) is 21" wide at the valve cover, the tube is 28 Inches at max diameter. I think we have that covered... headers go on after the engine is in, yes, that'll work.

Now to see if there is a way to cram it in the tube. 54 1/2 inches is the engine & trans at it's longest. Add 6" minimum for driveline... and where will that rear end sit.

We'll find out when I get home tonight.

Use block hugger headers or the 'ram's horn' style exhaust manifold, it should all fit inside the tube then.

Measurements in:

V8 Will fit width wise, even with stock headers, but will push the rear end just too far back... well, further than I want to go. A V6 is the deal for this ride and will give just the right amount of room.

Are you thinking modern quad cam V6 or period single cam?

It'd be modern, but with the help I'm getting in the Speed forums realm has be back to a V8. For cars like this, the rear axle is not sprung but solid and mounted to the frame. This will make the V8 possible.

Tiny update: A trip to McNees (well known hot rod shop here) has turned up a new part on this ride... and they're needed anyway... a spring perch. Now I can get the front end mounted for real.

Also, some lunchtime sketching while a long-winded customer burned a half hour has turned into a nifty logo for my T-Shirt.
