the engine was originaly all black

ima leave the alloy bare and try to clean it up a bit more

today i painted all the steel bits black and got my gas fitter friend to braze up a couple of cracks in the fuel tank. I also got a new pull rope for it and a spark plug cap.

the mowershop lent me an old workshop manual

guna do the valves and put it back together once im finished painting all the bits

I am looking at one very similar on Ebay ATM, not sure if I can bits for it here though...(I haven't looked yet) Could you get any parts for it from your local mower shop if you needed too?

yeh theres still parts floating around

if you ring around you will find parts and some parts you can use off other engines

i got new crankseals and side cover gasket. I think headgaskets are easy to get but mines still good.

here some of the bits i painted. Need to buy more paint but so far its looking ok i think.

been trying to work out the age of my engine.

the model number is: H25-25146C (or maybe its a G on the end)

serial number is: 2185B

so do you think my engine is a 1962, '72 or '82?

it has a steel fuel tank..all the other similar engines i've seen around have the white plastic tank with the red lid. Does this make mine older than most??

i might try to date the mower it came off. Problem is it looks much like all the morrison reel mowers from the 60s through to the 90s. Did have the old style metal throttle cable tho

ha thanks. yeh i got fruit for africa. One of the many advantages of working in peoples gardens.

rebuilt the pull start with new rope etc. Now its working as it should... not as it was before. Just needa rivet it back together

Minor update. Cleaned up magneto. Put a new cap on the end. Also in pic is the worlds dirtiest carb.

Ground is too wet to work today so i will try make some more progress.... Been working on alot of other stuff the last week. Fixed a couple mowers for friends and built a lightweight plastic bodied one for me to use over winter. Its the red one on left. Brand new body...engine built out of scrap LOL

Thats a nice kart that you have there. I have always wondered with these race karts.....how can you store the karts like that with the engines lying on their sides. Surely its not too good for the engine??

is air cooled twostroke. No fluids in it at all so makes no difference which way up you store it. Infact due to having a diaphragm carb it would prob run upside down haha

hit a minor snag when reassembling. One of my crankseals is wrong(and i destroyed the old one when removing haha). Have ordered the correct seal. Should have it next week

how do you remove them? i just use the claw of a hammer.

stabed it with a screw driver and ripped it out. Didn't plan on reusing it

So yeh i've started work on the frame...lol

i think there is a about a 93% probability that it will break in half if i try to ride it. But thats ok:arf: Next bike i build should probably invlove plans and a jig. edit: and maybe even a ruler

So far this project has consumed two bikes, a reel mower and a bbq.

did you make sure to unplug the tiny hole in the bottom brass bowl screw? #1 reason people have trouble with tecumseh carbs. theres a big hole and a tiny barely visable hole. make sure and unplug it

I chopped up my frame. After a few test rides down the driveway i decided it was going to be a bit hard to control..need to work out a way to reduce the rake on the front forks without making th bike too high. Must be low

i got this new toy the other day:

spent a few hours taking it all apart, cleaning and rebuilding today then I fired her up and mowed the lawn haha. Its a Ryko speediecut, powered by a Villiers twostroke. I think it could be 1948, going off the numbers on the body but i'm unsure. I got it off a guy that found it under his house when he moved in. Said he'd never had it running and to his knowledge hadn't been run for many, many years. Runs awesome tho! starts first pop off the hand crank starter
