Kt100 tuning/mods

I just bought a kart with a KT100 with a 2 hole air box and 4 hole can.

I am wondering what the differences are between air boxes and air filters on these two stroke engines. And the difference between cans and pipes.
Pros and cons?
Which offers more performance? Realibility?
