kohler/briggs pocket bike swap

i recently bought a x2 pocket bike for $90 off my neighbor. its a bad assssss bike w/ a 49cc 2 stroke and cvt but i can only go 25-30mph. so i want more speed.

Well i thought about swapping my 725cc kohler or 399cc briggs as an alternative to those expensive watercooled engines like cr125 for example.

i probably could swap one or another in if i modd the engine mount and battery tray but i need a second opinion since with the kohler id have to mod the frame a bit.

soooooo what do you guys think briggs or will the kohler be worth the trouble?

also what kind of gearing should i be looking for i was thinking 4:1 for the kohler or 5:1 for the briggs.

If you switch to a briggs or kohler, you'll want to add a CVT/torque converter to get acceleration and top speed. Otherwise you'll be trading one for the other. I'm not sure there's room for all that in that little frame.

the bike weighs 96lbs with gas andlike 307lbs with me on it and my kohler pushes about 10 times more torque then that little 2 stroke so i dont think i would need a cvt if i could lower gearing

I would use the briggs and 5:1 although you could get away with like 4.5:1 using a jackshaft

yea i just measured the the frame and the kohler so theres no way i'd be able to fit it w/ out eliminating the bottom panel and droppin the motor mount three inches which will give me about 2inches of ground clearence...

2 inches is well enough lol my mini barstool racer has about .100" disc brake clearance to the ground lol (didnt thought of the clearance at the time lol)

yea but thats w/ out the fender dude it wouldnt look right two me i got plans for the bike.

also, make sure you strengthen up the frame, as you all ready said that had a stock 49cc engine, so the designers would only strengthen it enough to handle an average size person and that little 2 stroke with a few extras.

You would have to change the rear calliper to get the most breaking power aswell.

Do you plan on putting in some kind of jackshaft to eliminate changing the rear sprocket?

Last I checked a GX200 is a challenge to fit in those, let alone a monster mower engine.

yea jackshaft is a must and im not just going to mod the frame ima strengthin it, longer swing arm and ugrade to hydrautic brakes to start.

but i could fit the kohler if i lose the bottom panel.

a guy on pocketbikeplanet built a x7 with a 250cc turbocharged lifan. and if that isnt bad *** engine my big kohler on a x2 spittin fire out the exhaust
