I need some suggestions on replacing my carb. on my Kohler 12.5 I want to put on a motorcycle carb. instead of the factory carb. because the original carb. is in real bad shape, has anyone done this in here on this size engine, what about adapters ? I am new in here and never been in a forum before either...lol

Sure, motorcycle style slide carbs have been used on industrial engines before, but the key is you have to have a custom intake manifold for it in order to mate the carb to the engine. And those don't grow on trees....

Almost all original carbs from older engines are in bad shape--because people don't maintain their equipment like they used to.

I guess you really are a newb because you posted a tech question in the Introduce Yourself forum. :D
But it doesn't matter all that much.

Why do you want a motorcycle carb on a vertical engine?? Racing lawn mower?
Either way you will need to rip out the governor since the old carb is going bye-bye.
An adapter will probably need to be custom made.

Am I missing something? Did he say it was a vert. Shaft? You can make an adapter to go on it with pipe and flanges if you can weld.
