It started so simple. I was just going to throw a couch on top of an old riding lawn mower. But now this thing is getting so heavy that I am not sure if the axle and the breaks are going to work out right. I don't plan on getting this thing over 5 mph. But being able to brake on hills would be desirable. I put up an photo album on my profile if anyone wants to take a look at the challenges and give me their two cents. I would appreciate it.

I was thinking about putting some actual car brakes on it, but I would need to build up the 1" axle to fit a car brake drum and that doesn't seam safe. Unless someone has a great way to do that?
Any feedback is appreciated.

What size engine you using? Looks like at least a 12hp engine maybe 15 I can't quite tell. Is the frame standard steel or Aluminum? You could build an Aluminum frame which will help cut down on weight. If its all steel my guess your pushing about 600lbs, ATV brakes for sure probably at all wheels to help stop. Hopefully weight distribution will be good...rather not slam on the brakes and go face first into the ground.

20 Hp engine.
All steel frame.
I am thinking the frame is under 400 lbs. But the rest of the costume, plus 2-4 people will get us up over 1500 lbs pretty quick.
I am going to take one of the axles to my favorite motorcycle shop and see if they have quad brakes that will fit the axle. That might just do it.
I will update when I find out.
Thanks for taking a look!

There was a show way back in the early 2000s maybe late 90s that they showed odd vehicles...some had motorized Queen and King sized beds. But I think those were powered with carbed Ford 302, Chevy 350 and 454 engines..but I digress.

I think I saw mine on "Worlds Dummest" Cops pulled over adrunk guy on a Lazy boy recliner at Spring break or something. It apperaed to be powered by a 5 hpBriggs.

Then the couch that crashed with like 6 people on it.

But never the whole living room!
