Do you guys have a updated way of wiring a kill switch to the Predator 212cc engine?

I was trying to search on this forum and it seemed a bit difficult to find.

Does anyone have a step by step with pictures? Do you have to cut wires still?

Sorry if this is a repost but couldn't find anything with searching.

When you unplug the low oil switch, connect what was going to the oil switch, to a momentary on push button switch where you need it, ground to the motor or frame.
This allows you to use a sure fire way of a kill, and not tapping into exsisting wiring, potentially damaging or messing things up.

Thanks.

So when you unplug the oil sensor (yellow), The other end of it was just grounding out, correct? So that why just hangs? Then i connect my switch to that yellow wire going to the low oil. Then the other wire i just ground it.

Does this allow both the kill switch and the shut of switch on the engine work?

On my kart, I wired the switch between both yellow terminals which does allow for the kill swith & the engine switch to both work... provided it's not connected backwards...

Fabroman,

Thanks. I believe i understand. Just want to write it so to make sure i'm not being stupid.

Take the yellow wire apart, add my switch wire between the 2 yellows and reconnect. Then the other wire on the switch ground it to the frame.

Sound correct?

You can do it that way but mine isn't gounded, it becomes part of the circuit: From the low oil sensor to the switch then from the other side of the switch to the other yellow wire...

looking over the other posts and other posts on other sites i ordered my kill switch. The only difference i see between what others have and what i have is that most of the switches come with 2 wires. I bought a kill switch with 1 lead wire. So i'm not exactly sure how to do this.

I thought i could just disconnect the oil sensor wire that is going back to the kill switch and plug it in there.

Does that sound right?

I thought i had a better picture of the wire but this is what i have. I was going to add a male connector to my kill switch and just plug it in that green female connector. This is where i'm confused. Will this work since there is no ground? Will this switch even do anything with this setup? Or will i need to fit the wire in between the male and female connectors.

So i don't know if it is the switch or i am just completely missing something. I knew i was going to have issues using this switch as it only had the one lead wire but i bought it anyways because i didn't want to cut wires. Cutting wires just seems permanent.

I tried every combination with the lead wire as i could think of and following what you guys have said and what i have searched for on the internet. I even tried to leave wires connected and pushed my wire in to the sleeve to see if that would work. Nothing. So unless this switch is broken i have no clue what i am doing.

I have uploaded a picture of all the wires and labeled them. Lets call my switch Lead wire: WIRE Z. What do i need to unplug and connect wire Z to?

I tried unplugging Wire D and connecting Z to C, that didn't work. I tried disconnecting G and connecting G to Z. That also didn't work. I even added my wire to F and E so it was F to E to Z.

I figured the labels would help. Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks again!

EDIT: I think i just had a aha moment. Could my paint job be causing my switch not to ground? I will test this when i go home for lunch! I'll try again with Z to G with the switch grounded to a metal pipe or something.

-Un plug H from the pug leading from the block.
-Attach wire to that plug(the one leading to the gold box, {"G" I think?}), to a switch(your choice).
-Attach another wire to the other pole of that switch(as to complete a circuit), and lead that to the block or a good ground.

Start and test. Motor should stop as soon as pushed, if not(mostlikely got it reversed, on/off)

Thanks Mckutzy but my switch doesn't have 2 poles. Its just 1 lead wire. So that is why i think the clear coat of paint is stopping it from grounding.

In theory if i unhook G and ground G out the engine should shut off. So if i hook my self grounding switch to G and have it mounted to a metal pipe the switch should ground the engine and kill it. My lunch is in a hour so i'll try to report back on it.

FIXED!--------------------

I went home and made sure the screw scratched the paint and it worked! I disconnected the oil probe Wire H and taped it closed. I then connected my switch wire Z to G and everything worked!

Thanks again. I'll post the finished picture later.

Can you send me a picture of the back? And where is wire Z on your diagram?

Very simple,
The wire going to the oil sensor, unplug it(it most likely is yellow).
The unplugged end that is connected to a little gold coloured box(relay), rout that inline with a momentary push button switch to a good ground or the block.

No it doesn't specifically a ground cable, can be the block or frame ect. Anything with a direct metal to metal contact with the engine block.

I can send you a picture of the back later. forgot to take another picture and post it.

My Z wire wasn't in the picture as it was just my Lead wire from my Kill switch. I only had 1 ware on my kill switch since my switch was self grounding.

I'll try to remember tonight to take a picture when i get home from work.

EDIT: I have to take the seat off to get a good picture. The kart has been stored for winter so i'll have to remember this next year :)
