Attempting to hook up a single wire kill switch to a new predator 212 engine leaving the stock kill switch attached to the motor.

I hooked the single wire from the switch to the female connector going to the existing switch on the motor however nothing happens when I toggle the new button. Do I need to remove some paint where the button is installed? Not seeing anyway the single wire grounds
itself out.

I believe there has to be a ground wire as well on the switch

Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

Yeah so thats kinda what Im wondering as well. Ordered it from bmi and just got it today. The other switch they sent (different type) was broken. May have to find a different place to order from going forward.

Assuming there were two wires, the ground would just go to the ground on the engine right?

It probably gets it ground from the body of the switch so yes paint would need to be removed BUT if you dont have metal to metal contact all the way from that panel all the way to the motor it will never work.... best to get a SPST (Single Pole Single Throw) switch of the 2 terminal variety and use that instead it will be less complicated. One wire will go to the engine block and the other to the connector that the on/off switch is connected to, you won't need the on/off anymore anyways.

You can use a momentary on push button switch inline to ground from the low oil relay...
No need to cut/splice ect... Just unplug from engine and wire to where it'll work best.

Agreed, ordered a new one from Amazon. Should be good with the 2 terminal switch.

Ordered the two terminal switch as suggested above, soldered new lengths of 18 gauge wire from the switch. Then soldered on one male bullet connecter and one u shaped connector. Hooked it all up and works as expected. Switches came in a three pack from amazon for 11 bucks for anyone that stumbles upon this thread.
