Hi, I am building a trike for my grandson to ride in the paddock and I don't know what drive sprocket I need in the back axel. Vehicle has 2 wheels on the back like a go kart with one wheel at the front with bike steering, so it is like a trike.

5hp Honda
Torque Converter CTV TAV 30 / 10 teeth #41 sprocket
300mm high wheels on back, 400 high single wheel on front
Frame is not too heavy
1" axle 40" long
Suitable for 20kg to 50kg drivers

We live on a property that slopes a little bit. There is a gentle climb on part of the track.

Would a 54 tooth sprocket be suitable for this belt driven CTV TAV 30 in the vehicle that I am building?

Cheers

Thanks landuse.

How big is a 60 tooth sprocket? Can I fit that there since my tyres are only 300mm high? I don't want the chain touching the dirt all the time. If I fit a 60 tooth sprocket, would my starting ratio be 6:1 on that belt driven system? When It goes flat out, what would be my ratio then?

Have a look at THIS document for sprocket diameters for #40 chains. It looks like it will be 24.99cm in diameter, so you should be good if you have 30cm tall tyres.

When you are going flat out, you will be at a 1:1 ratio, sometimes you get an overdrive of something like 0.98:1. I stand to be corrected on the overdrive though.
