Kid car battery help

I just scored a John Deer Gator HPX for super cheap. The catch is, it needs a new battery. The battery for this sucker runs about 60-70 bucks, its a 12v 12amp "gel technology" Battery....

Does anyone know of a cheaper alternative I can make work for this?

And before the chainsaw motor suggestions start coming, thats for later, just want something the kids can ride for now...

i put car batterys on those sometimes and have no problems. Being that its 12 volt it should be fine. I would think it ony draws whatever amperage it needs. Im no lectric guy though

Car batteries would wreck the plastic bushings and burn the motor out from the weight.

You can buy 12aH 12V batteries for $30-$40 shipped easily.

I worry about the connector, can that thing go on any 12 v battery?

Find out which is pos which is neg and you'll be fine.

yeah go to a local electronics store and just buy a 12v 12ah sealed lead acid battery... then just rig the wires to the car's plug...

i can have these batteries locally for about 25$

ha i've done that was with a jeep wrangler worked well considering i just used old batteries that we had taken out of stuff because they wouldn't hold enough charge i just cut off the old battery connector and put battery clamps on the wires and added a fuse
since the old fuse holder was in the original batteries casing i put the battery under the seat since a car battery didn't fit under the hood where it originaly went, fit perfectly
