Recently I've been able to gather eniugh parts between 3 blown Command 25 hp's that I'll be able to put a whole one togther.

Juet curious what people's opinnions were on them.
And aparently rods going is a common thing on these? Have the remains of 2 with blown rods and have a rod salvaged from another with a blown rod.

They looked like they seized to the crank resulting in it grenading. 3 Different engines, and since they're vertical shaft engines and not the ones with the fuel pump on the valve cover what's causing it?

Hard to tell, but by the pick I see valve lash adjustment stuff. That would mean mechanical lifters,
and that it is a residential courage bic lighter, and not a commercial command. Command's rockers
bolt down and have hydraulic lifters.

With the courage engines, 500hrs ya did good. Most die early due to owner neglecting oil changes, air filter, and cooling fins
plugging up with grass/ mouse nest.

Commands are solid engines that can take abuse, in my experience, turbocharging 600+ hour junkyard engines.

3 Commands. All have hydraulic lifters. That's really one of the first things I noticed about them when taking them apart. These engines were most likely on landscape equipment so probably a lot of hours and lot of abuse.

in that case, I would replace bearings. Landscapers prob overheated and never changed oil, check over EVERYTHING for wear and if you can, measure everything to make sure it is still in spec.

Commands do not have bearings. The rods do not have Babbitt bearings, and the crank rides
on plain pressurized journals.

Vertical or horizontal?

Hired hands get paid , regardless of the unit having oil or not :ROFLMAO:
No bearings??? next-level Chinese cheap right there. That would be a bad situation if that journal wears out. Recently had to deal with a worn '92 xr600 cam journal smh $400 later. I hate journals its not that expensive to put a bearing in! at least put a bushing or babbit style bearing, but NOPE!

All vert shaft engines. If I get one together it'll go on the fun mower. Gotta be faster than the friend.
