Bonus of being friends with someone working at a mower shop, I was able to get engines that were on their way to getting scrapped. Ended up taking home 2 kholer vertical shaft vtwins and a kawasaki.

The kawi and one of the kholers were "complete" but had thrown rods and a shattered piston. The other Kholer had no internals other than the pistons and rods without ends.

The plan is to make one engine out of the 2 kholers.

The crank, cam, lifters and pushrods, flywheel and sump cover were all salvagable from the blown Kholer and should be usable with a bit of cleaning.

The good block still had the whole fuel system and all the tins, and the rings seal good enough that we had to take the plugs out to pull the pistons through the bottom of the bores.

I'll get back with more/better details and pics later. Little bit late here for that right now. Lol. (3:30am)

The single cylinder is a briggs and stratton, not a Kawasaki. The ignition coil and unique head gasket is a dead giveaway.

It appears one of the twins is indeed a Kohler command, commercial engine.

The other twin is not a kohler, it is a Kawasaki. Kohler never had "V-valve" cast into their valve covers. They don't have cast aluminum valve covers either. Tin or plastic. Also note the differences between the blocks, totally different engines.

Sadly Kawasaki internals will not work in a kohler, or vise versa. Neither briggs.

2 kholers and a kawi. Briggs is the old mower engine. Using the parts from the 2 kholers as have almost everything for them. The kawi was just an engine that we tore apart for fun.
