I've tried Oxy/Acetylene welding in shop class, but that's the only time I did it. Maybe 2-3 times. I would like to learn on a TIG because I want a very proper build, and have good weld bead appearance. My dad knows how to weld very well. So I'm sure he'd be able and more than willing to show me the practical part of it. I'm still going to research TIG welding, though. Do you think that is wise?

Since you've done O/A, you're off to a good start. In simple terms, TIG is electric O/A, the same principles apply, it's just a different heat source. If you have the money for a TIG welder, go for it; just know that you will be the envy of the entire forum:D

I made a new thread for the build so that I won't congest the welcome page, and it's located here: http://www.diygokarts.com/vb/showthread.php?t=24781

Which I just moved to the build section :)

Roots don't count-if they did there would be at least 3 1/2 then....

If roots did count, depending on how deep you go, I'd say at least half the members will have Germanic roots. IIRC, that includes our fearless leader...

My background is Irish/Scottish/Welsh but, dig deep enough & you find German roots...

This is the plan that I came up with so far. It's not 100% neat and tidy, but I was using a wooden ruler because I didn't have a plastic one (which I prefer). I'll tidy it up eventually, but for now the idea and shape is good enough for me. If you have any questions on what is what, I'll be glad to answer them.

it's good idea ... i thing you can modife it more and more:welcome2::welcome2:

Oh, yes the plan...

Looks very wide or rather short..
So it's either a four person in a row kart or a two person with no room for legs.

Can't tell without dimensions ;)
