i just purchased a kawasaki(thats all i know about it) and it does not start. the kick start goes no further than the point where it would normally start turning over the engine... does this mean it is seized??? what should i do?

view photos of dirtbike at this link... let me know if the link works.... thanks a lot!

I couldn't open the link but my laptops been acting weird the last few days.
Is is a two or four stroke? That's pretty easy to determine
If the kick start moves its likely not seized make sure your in neutral also the kick start only makes one half of a revolution or less on most bikes.
Ill keep trying to open the link.

I wasn't able to open the link either. It's sort of hard to tell from the description, but if the kick start is not able to move at all then it is either seized or there is a problem with the kick start itself.

i dont know... it is in neutral.... the kick start only goes about an 8th of a revolution..... as soon as it would actually start turning or cranking or whatever is when it stops.. the link should work now....

Never mind i just searched the users on the website and found the pictures.
It looks like a KE100 I'm not sure of the year but i know they had the carb on the side like that.
Here's the Wiki on the bike. Kawasaki KE100

You should try to roll start it basically you run as fast as possible preferably down a hill and jump on as its rolling than kick it into second gear it should fire up.

its only a 100 two stroke it shouldn't throw you off i roll start my 125 sometimes because its easier even though its a little hard on the transmission. If its been sitting that long id clean the carb., Check for spark, check compression you know give it a tune up if necessary.

But with the kick starter are you able to kick it 1/8 of a turn over and over or does it get progressively more difficult with each kick?

If you get no satisfaction out of the kick starter, block it up with the rear wheel off the ground. Shift the tranny into the highest gear, and try to turn the rear while by hand. It will help to have a partner stabilize the bike. If the engine still does not revolve (you can't turn the rear wheel), then either the engine is seized, or there's some other mechanical problem in the gearbox.

the engine does not seem to be seized as we sort of turned the clutch(it was stuck a bit, but then started turning properly) and we could feel air pumping from inside the spark plug hole..... but the real problem is that the kick start is stuck.... also my clutch wire is not hooked up so its sorta hard to jump start....
