I got a $200 basket case with tired 20yo, 5hp Briggs. There is no brand label.. I have a shed out back with a welder. Anyway, hey y'all

Ok I got a harbor freight 212. Will need a + .20 billet rod. I figure a 265 cam, a jet kit, exhaust, flywheel, and air filter for starters.

Gears are 6:1 but the clutch is going to be toast soon. Thinking about that cvt? Any suggestions, she wants to get me a Christmas present!

Hey FlyFrog, the 212 runs way better than the tired Briggs. The clutch fit and the 212 has the same mounting pattern. I'm impressed with the additional power!

Thats good, I was just checking to make sure it ran well before you modified it and couldnt figure out why it wasnt running right.

Just wanted to say “Hey”. A CVT TAV II 30 series with a back plate would be a welcome addition to that kart. Just remember to use a Genuine Comet belt.

Thanks Denny, I will see about that 30 series. Why a comet belt?

It wont fray and break as soon, it also wont slip as badly

And Comet belts don’t start off feeling greasy. They last about 10:1 to the cheap ones.
