Trick Question.
Meet Leroy the Savage Vette Kart.

Not sure why when you take the body panels off of a Corvette on Youtube it becomes a kart, but this is the second "Vette Kart" I've seen on youtube. Roadkill did one.

This one started out as a $5500 lb salvaged C5 with stock 5.7L LS1 that ran low 12's at around 115mph. After adding a cage and stuff, it weighed about 2555 lbs.

Then they added a supercharger to the stock bottom end and I think they made around 700HP at the wheels.
9.98 sec, 136 mph 1/4 mile.

Then they built a bottom end bored to 7.0L and replaced the supercharger with twin turbos.
1000 HP to the wheels at 15 lbs boost.

8.26 sec, 173 mph 1/4 mile.
This thing is ridiculous.

I saw this thing in Indy last weekend, along with his GT500 swapped crown vic. Pretty cool project cars. Didn't get to see it drag race though, got rained out sadly.

could go faster with body, but would be harder to work on and get less attention. They should have painted the cage glow in the dark green to gather more attention.

Well. I’ve already been told my go kart is a mini Leroy. Needless to say I watch all his shows and 1320’s also. I mean I did grow up around the street racing scene.

Without the body, the "kart" had about twice the drag coefficient as a similar vette with the body.
If a flat solid plate the size of the car cross-section (placed perpendicular to the wind) has a coefficient of 1.00...
Leroy was about 0.74.
Standard Vette was 0.4ish. The standard Vette didn't have the the twin tubrskies horns up front.

At 170 mph, just to overcome the air force - Leroy needed 545 HP.
The standard Vette need 248 less HP to overcome the drag at the same speed.

Interesting that they seemed to find that the area of biggest concern was the dead spot behind the car.

So when trying to run a 1/4 mile pass in the 7's you might up the boost.
But the boost keeps pushing out the head gaskets, which causes water to puke out under your tires (which might be a problem at 180 mph). So what do you do?

Drain all the coolant (water) from the engine.
This dude is crazy. Guess he never heard of Fukushima.

7.82 sec pass at 176mph with two blown head gaskets and no coolant.
Got to give it up for fire ring gaskets.

I never would have thought that filling an engine with cement would be something that people do.

Haha. Yeah. Its called either a short pour or a full poor. Guy i work with has a modular ford and the block is filled. No antifreeze. The heads get water and have their own pump and heat exchanger that uses ice. No radiator or fan.

My motor is built on an aftermarket block made by Dart that is built with power in mind and even has a higher nickle content to make the metal stronger. The cost suggests it was gold they put in it. Maybe i will split it one day and find out? But i have a radiator and can drive forever.... provided there are gas stations every 170 miles. Not having a speed limiter built in to the car is a new concept for me.

It's not uncommon with automotive engines that tend to have thin cylinder walls. Ford FE and 351Cs are candidates and to a lesser extent the old 2.3 turbo. Regular production 302Ws tend to split down the middle (unless it's a Boss or Mexican casting) before a cylinder balloons, especially the roller cam blocks. 351Ws are pretty tough though.
