Kart tipping over...

Hi - I have a trail master mid xrx kart/buggy and it’s been tipping over a few times when my kids are riding it in our relatively flat field. The last tip over broke the steering box and I’m in the process of replacing it.

I assume the tipping is due to some misalignment of the front end. So now I got the whole steering assembly apart I’d like to make sure it’s proper.

It took about 30 mins of adjustments but I finally got the tires toed in 1/8th an inch. Visually it looks like one tire is angled more than the other. Not sure if this is just me looking at it too many times or what. But the tape measure is showing 1/8” difference from front to back.

Any suggestions for making sure the steering is setup correctly? Also is proper steering alignment the likely cause for any tipping - or are my kids just turning too much and too fast?

Probably having fun driving it. They're probably taking turns faster than what's recommend and rolling it. Long as they don't hurt themselves too much. Take a tape measure and compare both sides of the buggy on the tie rods and see if one isn't out of alignment more than the other.

Those Chinese buggies aren't designed very well (the Chinese aren't known for their engineering, they're known for low cost manufacturing)...

A more pressing issue is the centre of gravity; if everything is sitting too high in the frame, it will tend to roll a lot easier...

My money is on turning too hard.

Are the springs adjustable? Stiffening them up might help some, but it would also lift the buggy up, raising the CG.

You could always put slicks up front so it understeers like mad. No grip, no flip.
