Update:

A day of racing and in the down time I worked on some of the parts I brought along.

Racing this year is way better with 20+ in my kid's class but sadly, we only pulled a 6th today.

Nonetheless, it's racing... and you can't always win.

So... a first for this thread, a night shot.

And, sadly... go pro died so no ride in Sarge. In fact, we were so busy that she never left the trailer today.

Oh well.

2 pics. 5" wheels, fixed up and usable now.

I'm with Alex; looking, like wow!!! I've posted before that I wish I could dream up even some of the stuff you come up with..... If you and yours ever decide to relocate into the Grand Rapids Michigan area, I can personally garenty that you won't have to deal with noise complaints from me....

Thanks! Steering wheel isn't wood though. It's just rust. It was under the cover when I tore it off.

So... Update:

Don't mind the mess this thing has become, with all the cutting & changing around, there's a lot of rough edges & old metal that will be ground off this whole thing.

Anway...

Thrift stores are sometimes the best place to just do some thinking.

So... what can I use for this front end to get the right shape for that single cyclops headlight cover thingy?

Okay, first you can pull out perfectly theme matching parts from the shed of magics,
then you are given "what do I know" in parts for free including engines and a set of Rupp turbines, that are worth their own weight in gold..
And not enough.. NOOOOOO
Now even your frickin' parts rust beautifully, so that a clear coat (w/o rust removal) makes them perfect...

Oh you wait..
I will build up some funds, and come and rubb your dang belly for heaven's sake..

Too funny. Love responses like that Sid. I can't tell if you're really mad or not. The original steering wheel I slapped on this was from a modern race kart... then I changed it.

So yes... Rust pal. And these rust buckets rule.

Say all that in German, tell me how you really feel. (It's sexier that way)

Chancer... 1. I'm amazed you caught the genie post... I edited it out within seconds... but since you did say it. I know it's a gravy boat. It was so shiny and it looked a bit like a lamp... I had to say it. 2. I have no idea some days what my "muze" is. I just go with where it takes me. It's a strange counterpart to Sarge that's different and a bit more rounded. Back in the thread, it's a german version (with a whole lotta weird stuff thrown in) that's got a strange strange look to it.

I'm not really sure how to describe it honestly. Maybe combine a cyclops robot (that SID created), with a go kart, possibly a plane... slap an industrial sort of feel to it... then wait... there is more to this one.

Here's more of where I ended up today.

How to make a newer power plant look older? Use a shroud from a jacobsen 321... and a few other things.

I'm not done yet... give me just a bit and we'll put some finishing touches on what goes where, then rip it all apart, smooth out the rough edges, do up the welding and clean up the tack welding that appears to be everywhere... & put it back together.

Next up... find some race car window netting for the sides... and a tank mount. There's a pump on this one.

Me too! But, doing these up requires paint... then strip it.. gives the older look and used look I go for here.

Stay tuned... a fellow "other karter" guy from my local area may be joining us. He's one of the locals that, when stuff pops up on the local classifieds... is part of the race to get the parts. There's about 4 of us that compete locally.
