You know it man. Do the turbines red, and since the rings aren't super, just black them out and it should make a nice showing.

Maybe, that's a good idea. Might be silver though.! The chrome isn't perfect on these.
silver is tricky.. looks cheap more often than not...
re-chroming is expensive (at least around here), but that'd be the best result inthe end.
or if red and black, swap. black centers, red rings..

I got a friend like that. Sent me a set of Manco wheels I machined into fake Clarks that I cherish like turbines
The trick is to use silver and not "chrome" spray paint, that stuff does look ghetto.

I don't always use silver paint, but when I do... it IS rustoleum.
It'll match the cowl anyway... another fine kitchen item.

Update: Lunchtime boredom.
I have this old frame out back, I don't know what was and don't care.... but it has steering, brakes of sorts... and I think we'll just give it a shot and build Sarge 2 on it.
Here's the frame... and one questionable mock up. Gosh it's an ugly turd... but that's the idea... make it look different.

But, a nifty item I've been waiting for arrived today. A vintage bendix drum brake set for the baroness... complete with original finned spacer.
I love rusty old parts... Stay tuned, with brakes to put on, the baroness could roll soon.

Yea, they are pretty neat and they'll match this ride perfectly... or not. Never know what I'll do. I may be leaning towards using the Turbines on Bonneville instead. It needs skinny cool wheels... the baroness needs wider ones... probably sticking with the red 5's up front & 6 steelies in the back honestly.

Update: Switching gears... and if I do this right, the donor of the turbine wheels will be happy with where they're going... and someone else will be happy with where they're going.
Ahem... The turbines are going on Bonneville Spirit, period.
Reasoning: There's more than enough going on with The Baroness. Yes, the turbines would be great there... but it's too much in my opinion.

Update: Continuing on, there is one turbine that had a chip out of it.
Searching around for anyone to attempt welding it resulted in no less than two old geezers giving a class on the physics of metal and the price just went up from there.
It's just a wheel ok? Let's try this. If it fails, then we'll go another route.
Screw it.
1. Clean up the small chip
2. build small "dams" to keep the initial application in a general shape,
3. Apply
4. Let set.
When set, we'll apply more to get the right shape, then grind off the excess.
After that, a small piece of thin steel on the inside to take the pressure of the tire off the jb weld stuff.
Think it'll work?

the bead should work well..
I can't see any reason why it should fail prior the rim itself (cutting a curb will chip both)
the collar is a different story...
I jbwelded my crack back in (collar) on a much less expensive manco rim..
I haven't installed it to the kart yet.. so no real world experience.. but the tube and tyre are on and inflated.. no issue so far, increased the pressure a bit just to put some stress on it
(not scientifically bench simulating the kart load basically)
and it's still in one piece...
as you can see, I just "glued" the pieces back in.. with a bit of extra "beefing up" in the back.
here's a pre-painted pic of the repair I made..
post painted I don't have (only on my phone, one of the hundreds of pics I lost)
But if you want, I'll take another one tomorrow, but it looks just like before, just white
