T&D is still in business as T&D Metal Products, still on Walnut street. They've long since outgrown kart manufacture though; looks like they could fight it out with some of the biggest independent metal stamper's I've ever done work for...

Update:

Friday, I'm still deciding which way to go with the A10, so into the busy work of just doing little things.

The Semi is good but with the influx of parts that came with the recent purchase, I have some extra stuff now. In this case, a 1" axle that's got no step, just straight 1" threaded with some keyways.

So with the current rear axle not being a permanent thing (like anything is with me) I decide to pull its axle & install this new arrival. Reason: the axle on the semi is a 38" one. This one is a 36" and works better.

That done, it's onto the other extra parts.

A nice matching set of front hubs & rims (they came with the purchase the other days) seem to round out the semi nicely.. with only one problem. There's only one TIRE...

This frees up the knobbies for that mini bike that I borrowed from for a bit. LOL

Note: These hubs & wheels seen here, the 6" ones with hubs from Go kart galaxy... be careful. One good hit and they simply turn into butter. They're not well built at all and the ones you do buy are commonly bent. Seen in pic 3, the rear hubs from the buy yesterday. Axle is totally straight, these hubs are toast. We'll cut them off & use them as spacers.

It's frustrating sometimes but you can bend some of them back.

Anyway, this frees up some things and I'm now able to complete the rear axle setup with the funky front wheels for the Baroness with an awesome mini brake disc from ... yesterdays purchase.
(last pic) And as this whole journey goes... parts fly around from ride to ride until they land somewhere they fit.... The 38" works better for the Baroness because of the tight fit back there with the rear engine. So, all in all, things are good.

Only three things left to do/find..., to have all the parts for all 7 in existence.

1. Wheel discs for the tri-stars... For Unit 51.
2. Brake system for Unit 51
3. Brake system for Bonneville Spirit

Around & around it goes...

After a good amount of time doing other things, our hero returns.

Update:

I've been away for a bit. Life just gets in the way and of course, racing is on as well.

This weekend started on Friday for me as I just needed a day off. Friday was fun because I was helping out a friend with his websites & such... then it was across the street to his shop. I'm not really working on his ride but I did help out here & there.

Who is this friend you might ask? It's Mike Nish of Nish Motorsports. The reason I know them is because their kids race karts with my kid and we pit right next to each other. Over the years, we've become friends.

If you google Nish motorsports and hit "images" you'll see the purple ride of death. It's the steamliner of Nish Motorsports. A naturally aspirated hemi powers this ride and it'll do 425mph. Yup. Quite the sight I tell ya.

In their shop they're simply building a newer front piece for it so.. well, I watched & helped out here & there.

Gotta love the connections you make in the racing world. See the purple pics. LOL

Back on the Kart Rod front...

This year will be hit & miss for the kart rods so we'll see how it goes. My daughter is now the defending champion and I'm racing this year as well.

But...

Into the magic shed I went today.

Why? To clean it out.

The last time I stood inside... at the back of said shed... was 17 years ago.

A good 9 hours later, sarge & the kart rods have a home now as do our two racers during the winter.

I saved all that I figured I'd need and dumped the rest.

I new I had them in there... and here they are. The perfect fins for Unit 51. yea.

Update:

Hi everyone. Been a while.

With our Ice Breaker Shootout over in the kart racing realm with my daughter taking it and me a 4th place in my class, I now hang up the Kart racing for me (as I hate doing it in the summer here, it's too hot...) and it's just a hobby. I'll be pit crew again for my kid this year for the summer championship.

The new Briggs LO206 is hitting the scene and infiltrating the 4 cycle classes has everyone going every which way. Some of the Briggs are good, some run good for 2 races then die... glad we kept the hondas.... cause we won. My kid gave them the business and took em down. See pic one.

As for the kart rods... See the pics of the semi o'death below. I was busy today. The tank is just sitting there and not mounted yet but all runs and is good. I went with a briggs intek on it.. then blacked the whole thing out.

Just gotta mount the seat, hook up the brake pedal, then the body/hinge/bumper thingy.

Front bumper on, although it may change... it's there for looks.

Back end, a little trim for it... and planning for the boom that makes the tow truck effect.

Soon... very soon. Just life gettin in the way for a bit. Baroness will run with the front motor first and a jackshaft most likely because I'm having a hard time finding another briggs like this old one with the updraft carb setup.

I'm actually torn between which one is next. Bonneville Spirit or The Baroness. I have all the parts for them, just gotta put them together.
