It's the difference between my karts and yours... BAM!

Touche.

And Sid- You're wrong about Lone Star.....Foster's is made by filtering Lone Star through dog kidneys. That's probably where you got confused.

And as always- looking good Kelly, keep up the good work. .. (and it's not my kart- it's Dennis' -just for the record, mine is a Manco and the difference in bolt circle is substantial:lolgoku:)

Continuing on:

I love the time of year when people start cleaning stuff out & dropping ads on the local classifieds.

Today, an ad went up with a junk cart and a mess of parts. The wheels are honest-to-golly 5 lug trailer wheels in the back and the fronts are really just icky.

Just what I'm looking for, parts. A 1" axle, rear bearings, hangars, some usable frame with mounts... and a mess of other things.

This thing is in worse shape than the sad sack of crap from last year, trust me. I'll pick it up tomorrow and show y'all what I mean and Ii couldn't fit the beast in my jeep, so until then.

When I get there, this woman comes out and is telling me she buys abandoned storage units and this was in there... just wanted to get rid of it.

I gave her a card and told her if she ever finds old go karts & motors, just let me know. She responded with "Oh heck, I find these all the time and I never know what to do with them"

he he.

It's dark now but I did get something else in the pile off stuff to, a genuine Honda GX110, running. It's dirty as heck... but hey, any running engine has a use around here. A 3.5 hp mini honda with a 3/4 shaft, wee haw.

Thanks for lookin.

Let me get this straight...
not only you use some kind of magic to get the parts you need,
Now you also have enough luck to sit down and let the engines come to you???
You must be F*** kidding me!

You are a blessed man my friend :D
I really want to rub your belly, just in case it's contagious ;)

LOL, I spit a little beer when I read that.

Originally, I simply wasn't going to pay it a 2nd thought, but like my dad taught me... you can't win if you don't play. He was referring to Blackjack but it holds true in life.

In my morning at work, I fired off a quick email requesting another pic because I couldn't see the axle. The rest I didn't care about at all but if it had an axle and some usable stuff, 75 bucks wasn't an issue.

When the pic came back, there it was, an axle. Just wait until you see how they hooked the sprocket and disc brake on...

So yes, In a way I guess I am blessed but not really. I just go for the adventure and sometimes... you just don't know what you'll find until you ask.

You can't win if you don't play.

:)

well it's...
got nice tires on the back ;)

*cough*

And you really want that axle? You are a brave man :D

LOL< it's not as bad as it looks. WHoever tried to weld this stuff up, didn't get it done. The disc and sprocket are loose... there was no penetration and it all just slides off. Good axle, good bearings, carriers, etc. Even 2 big ole hubs to cut up & use for something else.

Well, guess I'll have to do something to earn a reply with this eh...

I'm sorry Kelly; I saw your previous post, but was kinda tied up; I think you already know that I'm one of the worlds slowest typists, and I didn't realise that the OP was looking for machine shop services, not how to do it himself.....

All i can plead is "Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa, Maximus Mea Culpa"....

 :surrender: :surrender: Pat

A fine brisk morning... time to get that axle off and see what else we can do.

With the axle off and soaking in scary chemicals, I turned to the rest of this mess.

I knew that someone had really put their heart into making whatever this beast was and their creative use of bed frames (box spring frames) proved it. There was something underneath it all and it was a good day to find out what it was.

When the smoke (er... Steam) cleared and 3 cutoff wheels had bravely given their lives, here's what I was left with... most of the original kart that it once was... now half price!

That goo on the carport floor there is rust-water, fresh from the left front tire.
