I'm really digging the two linked engine idea...did not know about double sprocket clutches. You know I'm going to have to build my own [ECHO]JET THREAT[/ECHO] kart based on this right? Not now obviously...my hands are full but its going to happen!

Update: (and the weekend hasn't even started... well, it has...)

Beer 1.

So on my floor is this conglomeration of parts and I've got the general idea of what I'm gonna do. I'm sitting there, having a beer and decide to start on the bitter work.

By Bitter work, I mean sitting things in just the right places & really thinking this out because everything has to fit just right... I'm gonna tack weld tomorrow.

While looking through my little shop for a few c-clamps, I kick a box under the bench and something falls on the floor. It's one of those cheap-sh1t disc rotors from somewhere... and where should we put this I say? See Pic 1. See 'Sid? No magic shed with witches in it. (it's a magic box in the nether-reaches under a scary shelf)

Snap that pic and move on.

So I sit the engines back in place and drop an axle on top of it all. Sure enough, it was as I feared. We're gonna need a fricken 40" axle and I don't have one. A 38 is all I have... and the front end is good with a 38 in the back too. I go much wider and it's gonna start looking weird.

It's time to rethink the engine positioning really. They have to come in (go left) to work. I don't want to get them too close to me as I'll be sitting right next to one of them and although it's really no different than my race kart... I'm 2 inches from my clutch in it. Guard it well and we'll be fine.

So in with the rear frame pieces we go. From outside the main frame to 1" inside them. This gives enough room for the 38 and sarge size rear wheels to just clear the rear motor... plus it will line up nicely with the front engine mount, on the inside of the rail.

Sure, a few extra bars are gonna be needed here to make it work, but that's the fun. I've already cut off quite a few so we'll use them later.

Beer 2.

Now here we have something that lines up, could work and has enough room for everything to function, including a gas tank in the middle of them, level with the tops but enough to gravity feed them.

Anyway, the other pics show all that to chew onwhile I type up what's happened in the other 20 minutes I spent after that. It's amazing.

You've changed the whole stance now... it looks weirder than it did with 2 engines.

Yes, but it will work and you could use it with one engine to test and use, then simply add the rear motor when you're ready to buy that dual geared dealy-wheelie.

I wonder what the tec would look like now, in red... all side/mid engine lookin like dat.

So what are the penalties if you get caught? Mind you, I'm just basing it on the little I've picked up from my cousin and her husband, who live somewhere in the same mailing zip codes.

I knew you were tougher than what I implied to Doug, it's just that it seems (according to my cousins husband) that they've got the perfect world, and the rest of us.... Well, that's a topic that I really don't think we need interfering with the fun of building and playing with pieces of rolling stock that don't require a college degree to understand...

Do we need to start a "Doug Watch" thread?

LOL, even funnier. There are no penalties if you get caught... Unless, I guess, you're mormon, which I'm not. I don't know their rules and don't care really.

Honestly, people base the whole "utah" thing on crap they hear on TV. Most, simply isn't true and it's a neat place to live. Polygamists and Mormons are 2 different things entirely, for those of you wondering.

Utah, although it has a few odd rules and a strange religion items in the media at times, is ok. You can get 6pt beer and liquor anytime you like.. except Sunday... but you can buy beer on sundays here even. It's not a dry state in any way.

We have sunrises and sunsets and even homeless people too.

Continuing on...

A storm is coming in and it's 45 degrees. A bit windy but I can still do some damage today.

With the Baroness plans set (mostly) I turned my sights to the Bonneville Spirit. I'd never sat the 1969 Briggs with the Updraft on it, I never thought about it because I was going to use the Tec... but this will work better... I think anyway.

The Shroud has a curve that mostly matches the hood so we'll go with it for now.

Off to Home Depot for some paint, cutoff wheels and a few others things.

Since we'd used that old boat motor hood for the front, might as well take the other chrome parts & give the engine some love too, right?

Continuing on...

Took a break & took the wife out for lunch & a day out, so I didn't do tons more.

I did however manage to do a few things in addition to this morning.

Pic 1. Measuring (eyeballing) where to cut the plates to make the Baroness' fins

2. The baroness motor #1. (front engine)

3, 4 and 5. I was looking at that brake disc I was going to use for the front end and began looking for the other one. I knew I had a few around (turns out, I have 4 of them)

and... I can't stand the look of Tri-Stars.

While I had the rear wheel off, I decided to see if the center part fit on the axle... why?

Hubcaps.

What do ya know, a good fit.

And what a choice we have here. Old scooter sprockets, brake discs, whatever fits that awesome Chinese 6 allen bolt pattern can work.

Just shave down the center piece, make it into basically a thick Washer between the wheel & nut... and we have killer rear wheels.

I know, it looks like the nut won't fit... but when shaving the center connector piece down, I'll gain enough thread for the nut. Sweet.

I had to see what this was going to look like.

It's taking on quite the look with just one engine. I'm sure I'll have to rethink the air filters & exhaust when I do the 2nd...

But I'm getting pretty happy at the way it looks.

Excellent idea man. For now, it's one engine but building for 2, when I find another tec.
